'Breaking Up the Grid: It's Complicated'

ERCOT’s competitive marketplace is an incredible resource, delivering low-cost, low/no carbon energy at prices unachievable by many thermal resources, except for when it does not. In lieu of a capacity market, ERCOT allows prices to escalate to up to $5,000 per Megawatt Hour in times of scarcity. This low probability / high-consequence event increases the cost of buying term financial power to moderate / levelize power costs. In this presentation, LPI illustrates and benchmarks the cost of blended, site power with grid power as economic as an alternative to costly hedges and other Grid/Retailer fees.

Greg Thurnher is Liberty Power Innovation's Senior VP of Power Generation.  In this capacity, Greg is launching LPI's wholesale, retail, and IPP commercial operations in ERCOT, as well as other regions.
